Privacy policy

Last Updated: September 7, 2026

At Clique, we believe privacy is an important part of creating a safe and trusted space for human connection.

This Privacy Policy explains how Clique (“Clique,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use our website, mobile applications, platform, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

It also explains the choices and rights you may have regarding your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use Clique and which features are available to you.

Information You Provide

When you create or use a Clique account, you may provide information such as:

  • your name;

  • email address;

  • phone number;

  • profile photo;

  • age or date of birth, where applicable;

  • interests, preferences, or information you choose to include in your profile;

  • information about your organization or community, where applicable;

  • messages, comments, and other content you choose to share;

  • information you provide when contacting support or reporting an issue.

You may choose not to provide certain information, although this may prevent you from using some features.

Information About Your Activity

When you use Clique, we may collect information about how you interact with the Services, including:

  • Cliques and activities you join or create;

  • invitations you send, receive, or respond to;

  • connections and interactions with other members;

  • participation and attendance;

  • activity within the platform;

  • interaction with features and notifications;

  • session duration and general engagement patterns.

This information helps us operate the platform, understand participation, improve the experience, and support relevant organizational features.

Communications and Conversations

Clique enables users to communicate through features such as group conversations, one-on-one interactions, messaging, and video.

Depending on the feature being used, we may process information associated with these interactions in order to provide the Service.

We do not sell private conversations.

Where a feature requires automated processing of conversation-related information, for example to support facilitation, accessibility, safety, or other AI-supported functionality, we will process that information only as necessary to provide and improve the relevant feature and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Where required by law, additional notice or consent may be provided before specific types of processing take place.

Device and Technical Information

When you use Clique, we may automatically collect certain technical information, such as:

  • device type;

  • operating system;

  • app version;

  • IP address;

  • language and general location derived from technical information;

  • identifiers associated with your device or application;

  • log and diagnostic information;

  • crash and performance data.

We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.

2. Information We Receive from Organizations

You may access Clique through a senior center, community organization, nonprofit, municipality, care organization, senior living provider, or another participating organization (“Organization”).

In these cases, the Organization may provide us with information necessary to invite you to or enable your participation in Clique, such as your name, contact information, membership status, program information, or other relevant account information.

The Organization may also receive certain information about participation and engagement through features available to authorized organizational users.

The information available to an Organization depends on its relationship with Clique, the features being used, applicable agreements, and applicable law.

Organizations are responsible for their own privacy practices and for personal information they collect or process independently from Clique.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • create and manage your Clique account;

  • provide and operate the Services;

  • help you participate in Cliques, conversations, and activities;

  • enable you to connect and communicate with other members;

  • personalize your experience;

  • recommend relevant activities, conversations, or connections;

  • send invitations, reminders, notifications, and service-related communications;

  • provide customer support;

  • facilitate conversations and participation;

  • understand engagement and improve the user experience;

  • provide authorized Organizations with relevant participation and engagement information;

  • maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the platform;

  • detect misuse, fraud, security incidents, or violations of our Terms;

  • develop, test, maintain, and improve Clique;

  • comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of others.

We will not use personal information in ways that are materially incompatible with the purposes described in this Privacy Policy without providing appropriate notice where required.

4. AI and Automated Technologies

Clique may use artificial intelligence and other automated technologies to support human connection and improve the experience.

Depending on the features available, these technologies may be used to:

  • suggest conversation topics or activities;

  • support participation in group conversations;

  • personalize recommendations;

  • help make conversations more inclusive;

  • identify engagement patterns;

  • support accessibility features;

  • help identify potential safety or wellbeing concerns;

  • assist with platform operation and improvement.

AI-supported features are intended to assist people, not replace human judgment.

Where automated systems identify a pattern or potential concern, that information may be used to support an appropriate feature or, where applicable, made available to authorized individuals.

We take steps designed to limit the information used by these systems to what is reasonably necessary for their intended purpose.

We do not use automated technologies to make medical diagnoses.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share personal information in the following circumstances:

With Other Clique Members

Certain information is shared as part of the social experience.

For example, other members may be able to see information such as your name, profile photo, interests, participation in a Clique, or information you choose to share during interactions.

Your phone number, email address, and other private account information are not displayed to other members unless you choose to share them or a specific feature clearly indicates otherwise.

With Organizations

If you use Clique through an Organization, authorized representatives of that Organization may have access to certain information related to your membership, participation, engagement, or use of organization-managed activities.

We aim to limit organizational access to information relevant to managing and understanding participation in their programs.

Private information is not automatically made available to Organizations simply because you use Clique through them.

With Service Providers

We work with companies that help us operate Clique, such as providers of:

  • cloud hosting and infrastructure;

  • video and communications technology;

  • authentication;

  • notifications and messaging;

  • analytics;

  • customer support;

  • security and fraud prevention;

  • artificial intelligence and technology infrastructure.

These providers may process personal information on our behalf only as necessary to provide their services to Clique and subject to appropriate contractual and security requirements.

For Legal or Safety Reasons

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;

  • protect the rights, safety, or property of Clique, our users, or others;

  • investigate fraud, abuse, security threats, or violations of our Terms;

  • respond to an emergency involving an immediate risk of serious harm, where permitted or required by law.

Business Transactions

If Clique is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

6. Sensitive Information

We ask users not to share unnecessary sensitive personal information through Clique.

Because conversations between people may naturally include personal topics, users may voluntarily disclose information about themselves during conversations or through other interactive features.

Please consider carefully what information you choose to share with other members.

Clique is not intended to serve as a repository for medical records or other clinical information unless a specific feature expressly states otherwise.

7. Safety and Wellbeing Information

Certain Clique features may be designed to help Organizations understand participation patterns or identify changes that may warrant human attention.

For example, features may identify changes in participation, repeated absence, early departure, or other engagement patterns.

Depending on the Services provided to an Organization, authorized users may receive information or alerts based on these patterns.

These features are intended to provide supportive information. They are not medical monitoring, diagnosis, emergency monitoring, or a substitute for professional judgment.

Clique cannot guarantee that its technology will identify every situation in which a person may need assistance.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Different types of information may be retained for different periods depending on their purpose and applicable requirements.

When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, or aggregate it, subject to applicable law.

9. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

These safeguards may include access controls, encryption, secure infrastructure, monitoring, and other security practices appropriate to the nature of the information.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. We therefore cannot guarantee that personal information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed despite our safeguards.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.

These may include the right to:

  • access personal information we hold about you;

  • request correction of inaccurate information;

  • request deletion of certain information;

  • object to or restrict certain processing;

  • request a portable copy of certain information;

  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;

  • appeal or complain about certain privacy decisions.

Some rights may be subject to exceptions under applicable law.

You may also update certain account or profile information directly through Clique where those features are available.

To make a privacy request, contact us at support@clique.care.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

11. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Clique account through the available account settings or by contacting us.

Deleting an account may not immediately remove every copy of information from our systems. Certain information may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes permitted by law.

Information you shared with other users may also remain visible where it forms part of their conversations or records, subject to applicable law and platform functionality.

12. Communications and Notifications

Clique may send communications related to your account, Cliques, activities, invitations, reminders, security, support, or other aspects of the Services.

Depending on your preferences and the features you use, these communications may be delivered through the application, email, SMS, WhatsApp, push notifications, or other supported channels.

You may be able to manage certain notification preferences through Clique or your device settings.

Some essential service or security communications may not be optional while your account remains active.

13. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website and Services may use cookies, local storage, software development kits, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember preferences, understand usage, improve performance, and maintain security.

Where required by applicable law, we will provide appropriate choices regarding non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

14. International Data Transfers

Clique may operate and use service providers in more than one country.

As a result, personal information may be processed in countries other than the country in which you live.

Where required, we use appropriate safeguards designed to protect personal information when it is transferred internationally.

15. Children’s Privacy

Clique is not designed for children.

Our Services are intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to Clique without appropriate authorization, please contact us so we can review the situation.

16. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights under applicable state law.

Depending on your state and the applicable law, these rights may include access, correction, deletion, portability, and rights concerning certain uses or disclosures of personal information.

Clique does not sell personal information.

Where applicable, you may exercise your privacy rights by contacting us at support@clique.care.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights provided by applicable law.

17. European and UK Privacy Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection requirements, applicable law may require us to identify a legal basis for processing personal information.

Depending on the circumstances, we may process information because:

  • it is necessary to provide the Services or perform a contract with you;

  • we have a legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the Services;

  • you have provided consent;

  • processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation; or

  • another legal basis applies.

Where applicable, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

18. Third-Party Services

Clique may integrate with third-party services, such as calendar providers, messaging platforms, app stores, video technologies, or other services.

When you interact directly with a third-party service, its own privacy policy and terms may apply.

We encourage you to review the privacy practices of services you choose to connect with Clique.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Clique evolves, our practices change, or legal requirements change.

If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice through the Services, our website, email, or another appropriate method.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was most recently revised.
